Tera Kuno Brasil: Milestones on the Path to Community Transformation
The metropolis of Manaus is located in the heart of the Amazon rainforest and is marked by intense migration. Although the forest could already offer a wide variety of agricultural products, there is a lack of local production, effective distribution systems, as well as knowledge and research on soils and agricultural methods, especially in agroecology. Currently, 90% of food is imported from other states. This is where we step in!
Integrated into ecological and social cycles, we work practically on sustainable infrastructures. We base our efforts on the research of traditional cultivation methods and the historical knowledge of local populations. Through our own research projects, we develop new production methods that meet human needs while maintaining balance with nature, the foundation of life. Additionally, we create new foods based on local ingredients, refining them with time-honored methods.
We want to pause – observe – feel – become active or contemplative – approach nature – develop strategies for self-sufficiency and collective self-responsibility – form communities – and give space to shared visions.
The mission of Tera Kuno Brazil is to inspire social movements and local communities through art, education, and nature. We are committed to growing healthy food, protecting the environment, promoting individual health, and social justice. We work on restoring and sustainably managing agricultural and food systems as a response to the climate crisis.
In the next 10 years, Tera Kuno Brazil aims to become a national and international reference for innovation in agroecological practices and research. By creating transformative environments and liberating education, we are developing economic models that connect city and countryside, based on Amazon-based environmental education, local food, and climate protection.
