Tera Kuno means “Land of Us All.” We are committed to research, promotion, and communication of ecologically sustainable agroforestry systems (“Forest Gardens”) in the Brazilian Amazon. We connect agriculture with artistic and innovative endeavors.
Are Art and Culture, Science and Art, or even Agroforestry and Art, different worlds? Or two sides of the same coin?
Tera Kuno does not aim to address or answer these questions theoretically. Instead, we share the merging of visionary creative and natural forces and how, from them, a dynamic trinity of Science, Art, and Society can be forged. A creative trinity that has dedicated years to experimenting, striving to create a synthesis between sustainable economy, healthy environment, and just society.
A creative harmony, which over the years has focused on experimenting and propelling the decisive impulses to enable the emerging synthesis of sustainable economy, healthy environment, and just society, through workshops, residencies, laboratories, and upcoming exhibitions. Tera Kuno believes that exchange and collaboration are essential elements in the development of contemporary art and culture-agriculture in the Amazon. Our intent is to spread the spirit of the initiative through artistic and cultural efforts in a society committed to collectivism and nature. We support initiators who prioritize local and ecological needs while also playing a key role internationally.
Tera Kuno builds an ecosystem in which many participants collaborate, including artists, curators, writers, researchers, musicians, filmmakers, teachers, ecologists, nutritionists, architects, chefs, designers, and street artists. Alongside local farmers, we create a cooperative center that promotes the initiative of each individual through artistic and cultural projects, reaching a large audience. Sharing and collaborating are two essential elements for plural development. Diversity creates more diversity!
Agroforestry is an ancient practice where various plants coexist in the same cultivation area, producing fruits for humans and animals while contributing to soil restoration by mimicking the forest ecosystem. This is Tera Kuno’s line of research, helping local producers improve the productivity, profitability, and sustainability of their land, enabling cooperative sales, and creating a country that benefits all for a long time. This is the mission of Tera Kuno.
As a non-profit Swiss association, we directly support the activities of the Tera Kuno Institute Brazil, a non-profit body with the vision of preserving the Amazon rainforest and making it sustainable for its inhabitants. Tera Kuno serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and artistic action, because art educates and connects! Whether through research, workshops, exhibitions, or entertainment, Tera Kuno raises awareness and moves people!
