From Forest Gardens as Agroforestry Systems

Agroforestry (or Agroforestry System – SAF) is a method of food production using plant consortia that mimic the forest and contribute to soil restoration. It is an ancient land-use system that has been practiced by farmers around the world for thousands of years and, more recently, has been developed as a research field to help producers improve the productivity, profitability, and sustainability of their land. In agroforestry, different plant species are combined in a mix of trees and agricultural crops to maximize ecological benefits, enhance soil fertility, and stabilize nutrient cycles.

We work on the systematization and dissemination of technological and organizational innovations (technical, productive, economic, social, cultural, political), the exchange of knowledge and know-how in agroecological transition processes, and the dissemination of documentation, publications, and audiovisual products. In doing so, we focus on integrating agroforestry models as sustainable solutions to tackle the challenges of modern agriculture while contributing to the preservation of biodiversity and the protection of the soil.
